How to Cook Fries:
Start by obtaining these ingredients:
- 2 ½ pounds of potatoes of your choosing
- Vegetable or peanut oil, for frying
- Any kind of salt of your choosing
- An optional ketchup or other kind of dipping sauce of your choosing
Beginning the Prep
- Peeling and rinsing the potatoes
- Cut each potato lengthwise into 4 or 5 pieces
- Cut each piece into sticks (thinner pieces lead to crispier pieces)
Finishing off the Prep
- Place the fries in a large bowl
- Cover the fries with cold water
- Allow them to soak for 2 or 3 hours
Cooking the Fries
- Drain the water
- Lay the potatoes on 2 baking sheets and blot the potatoes with paper towels to dry
- Heat a few inches of vegetable oil to 300 degrees F
- Fry the potatoes for about 4 to 5 minutes per batch, or until soft
- Remove each batch and drain them on dry paper towels
Finishing Cooking (After the potato batches have been fried)
- Turn up the heat until the oil temperature reaches 400 degrees F
- Begin frying the potato batches again once the oil is hot
- Remain cooking until golden and crisp
- Remove the fries from the oil and drain on towels once more
Preparing the Fries
- Sprinkle your chosen seasoning on top of the fries and provide the chosen dip with the fries
- Enjoy!
